چکیده

Advanced modelling of neutron induced reactions on 238U nucleus is aimed at improving our knowledge of the neutron scattering. Capture and fission channels are well constrained by available experimental data and neutron standard evaluation. A focus of this contribution is on elastic and inelastic scattering cross sections. The employed nuclear reaction model includes – a new rotational-vibrational dispersive optical model potential couplings the low-lying collective bands of vibrational character observed in even-even actinides; – the Engelbretch-Weidenmüller transformation allowing for inclusion of compound-direct interference effects; – and a multi-humped fission barrier with absorption in the secondary well described within the optical model for fission. Impact of the advanced modelling on elastic and inelastic scattering cross sections including angular distribution and emission spectra is being assessed both by comparison with selected microscopic experimental data and integral criticality benchmarks including measured reaction rates (e.g. JEMIMA, FLAPTOP and BIG TEN). Benchmark calculations provided feedback to improve the reaction modelling. Improvement of existing libraries will be discussed.

Folding model analysis of elastic and inelastic proton scattering on Sulfur isotopes

The folding formalism for the nucleon-nucleus optical potential and inelastic form factor is applied to study elastic and inelastic proton scattering on 30−40S isotopes. A recently developed realistic density dependent M3Y interaction, well tested in the folding analysis of nucleus-nucleus elastic and inelastic scattering, is used as effective NN interaction. The nuclear ground state and transi...

Interaction of Ultra-Cold Neutrons with Condensed Matter

General theory of neutron scattering (elastic and inelastic) is presented. It is applicable for the whole domain of slow neutrons and includes as limiting cases existing theories for thermal and cold neutrons and for elastic scattering of UCN. New expression for inelastic scattering cross section for UCN is proposed. It differs from the usually used by proper account of re-scattering processes....

Debye Waller Factors and Lamb Factors in the Scattering of X-rays, -rays and Thermal Neutrons

The paper reviews the applicability of Debye-Waller factors and of Lamb factors to the non-resonant and resonant elastic scattering of X-rays, gamma-rays and thermal neutrons, emphasizing temporal aspects in the interactions. The influence of static disorder upon elastic scattering, in particular upon resonance scattering, is likewise treated. The scattering of X-rays, y-rays and thermal neutro...

Measurement of elastic electron-neutron scattering and inelastic electron-deuteron scattering cross sections at high momentum transfer.

We have measured inelastic electron-deuteron, electron-proton, and electron-aluminum cross sections at 10' in the kinematic region between-elastic deuteron scattering and the second resonance region at six beam energies between 9.8 and 21 GeV. The elastic electron-neutron cross section was extracted from the quasi-elastic data at Q2 = 2.5, 4.0, 6.0, 8.0 and 10.0 (GeV/c)'. The ratio of elastic c...
